RECREATION PLAN MISSOURI - MADISON COMPREHENSIVE RECREATION PLAN
PPL Montana has prepared this Plan as partial fulfillment of its license responsibilities to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission for operating its eight hydroelectric-generating facilites and one storage reservoir on the Missouri and Madison Rivers in Montana. It is not the intent of PPL Montana or this plan to set public policy, but instead to work within the existing policies, plans and priorities of the various governmental entities that have management jurisdiction for recreation resources in this area. Neither is it the intent to replace the existing process of public involvement in the establishment of public plans and land management policies. The public is invited to participate in implementation of this Plan through regionally established working groups, the existing framework of managing agencies, and elected officials.

RF Index Page
The Missouri-Madison River Fund Grant Program, implemented through the Missouri-Madison Comprehensive Recreation Plan, addresses ongoing needs for public recreation in the Missouri-Madison Project Area. Created as a public-private partnership among local government, state and federal agencies and PPL Montana, River Fund grant awards and awards of PPL Montana Match Funds are made annually for qualifying projects.
Since the first round of project awards for FY2007, the River Fund has provided nearly $1.5 million in grant funding for public recreation. PPL Montana has provided more than $600,000 in matching funds. These funds, along with agency and partner contributions, have resulted in nearly
$3.5 million in recreation enhancements in the Missouri-Madison corridor.
